Next CERT Class - Thu, Feb 23, 2012, 6:30p PEACHTREE CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Emergencies and disasters strike at any time. Are you prepared to face them? The Peachtree City Police Department will be hosting a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class beginning February 23rd, 2012. Classes will be held each Thursday evening for ten (10) weeks from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Peachtree City Police Department. The CERT program provides an excellent opportunity to learn about how to prepare yourself and your family for hazards that may affect our community. Attendees will be trained in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. The program culminates in a mock disaster exercise where participants put into action what they have learned throughout the program. Prospective candidates must be at least 18 years old and residents of Georgia. Applicants will be required to complete an enrollment form, applicable waivers and a background check will be performed as a pre-condition for acceptance. There is no charge to attend the class; however, class size will be limited to 26 participants. Applications are available online at www.peachtree-city.org/police For more information about the CERT program, please visit the police department's website, or call 770-487-8866.
